We are able to use many, varied and historically accurate items such as domestic artefacts, textiles, tools and weapons to illustrate and to explain about viking life in the 9th to 11th centuries, aiding the learning process and keeping the experience both meaningful and interesting. We also encourage pupils to ask questions to exercise and extend their personal understanding and knowledge, as well as interact with the visitors and when permission is given, to handle some of the items.
